Overview

Turn years of hands-on electrical trade work into the UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, a nationally recognised qualification for individuals who select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your experience as a working electrician to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Certificate III as anyone who completed the qualification through an apprenticeship. This qualification includes the Electrical Regulatory Authority Council’s Essential Performance Capabilities for an Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence.

Collect Your Evidence

Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.

Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs

We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.

Submit Your Completed Forms

Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.

Assessment and Competency Review

Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.

Outcome Issued

Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

Pathway Options

Choose Your Pathway

The more experience you bring, the shorter your pathway to a nationally recognised Certificate III

Pathway 1 (6 Months)

For workers with 3-4+ years' hands-on electrical experience, including at least 2 years in Australia.

Pathway 2 (12 Months)

For workers with 1-2 years' hands-on electrical experience. If none of this was gained in Australia, you must currently be employed in Australia to enrol.

Pathway 3 (18 Months)

For workers with at least 1 year of hands-on electrical experience. Builds foundational training alongside workplace evidence gathering as you grow into the trade.

[NB. You'll need to travel to NSW twice over the course of your pathway: one week around Month 3, and one full week for the Capstone Final Assessment.]

Does this qualification let me get my electrical licence?

The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician covers the trade skills used in electrician roles, maintaining, modifying and repairing electrical equipment and circuits. Licensing to work as an electrician is a separate step handled through your state or territory's electrical regulator, once you hold the qualification.
