SIT60122 Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management

Formal recognition for senior managers with advanced operational skills who combine travel or tourism skills with specialised managerial skills to coordinate operations with significant autonomy.
Overview

Turn years of hands-on senior travel and tourism management into the SIT60122 Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management, a nationally recognised qualification for senior managers with advanced operational skills who combine a broad range of travel or tourism skills with specialised managerial skills and substantial knowledge of industry operations to coordinate travel or tourism operations with significant autonomy. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your experience managing operations, business development or marketing for a travel or tourism business to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Advanced Diploma as anyone who completed the qualification through classroom-based study.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the SIT60122 Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management through RPL without going back to full-time study?
Yes, RPL lets your existing travel and tourism management experience be formally assessed against the qualification's requirements, instead of enrolling in full-time study. A partner RTO reviews your evidence and carries out the assessment needed to confirm you meet the national standard.
How much experience do I need to apply for RPL for this Advanced Diploma?
There's no fixed amount of experience required — RPL assessment is based on how well your evidence matches the qualification's units, not a set number of years. Strategic or business plans you've developed, financial records or budgets you've managed, and other documentation showing senior-level decision-making are the kind of evidence that helps build your case.
Is an RPL Advanced Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management the same as one from full-time study?
Yes, it's the exact same AQF-registered qualification, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, no matter which pathway you took to get it. RPL is a different route to that identical credential, built around assessing the skills you already have.
Will this qualification help me move from an operations role into a business development or marketing leadership role in tourism?
It's built around senior tourism roles such as Operations Manager, Business Development Manager and Marketing Director, so it reflects the strategic skill set those positions call for. What you do with it from there still comes down to your own experience and the roles you go after.
