1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
2

4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Certificate IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology through RPL?
Yes, if you've been working at a high level in body repair, RPL lets an RTO formally assess your experience against the Certificate IV rather than requiring you to go through the course as if you were starting out. It's a genuine assessment process built on real evidence of your skills, not a way around one.
What kind of evidence do I need for a Certificate IV RPL application?
You'll need job cards, work orders or service records showing more advanced or specialised repair work, diagnostic records, and evidence of components or panels you've repaired or replaced. Records that show workshop management responsibilities, like costing jobs or handling warranty work, also support an application at this level.
Is an RPL Certificate IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology as valid as one from full-time training?
Yes, it's the identical AQF-registered qualification issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, whichever pathway you take. There's no difference in how the certificate is recognised — RPL and full-time study lead to the same qualification.
What roles can this Certificate IV support?
It's aimed at roles like Master Technician, specialising in high-level diagnosis, service and repair for specific makes or models, and Automotive Workshop Manager roles running the mechanical workshop, costing jobs and handling warranty matters. It's suited to experienced body repair technicians ready to move into specialist or management positions.
