The Navigator Roadmap

How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here’s what to expect at each stage.
STEP 01

Collect Your Evidence

Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
STEP 02

Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs

We’ll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you’ll receive your Self-Assessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.
STEP 03

Submit Your Completed Forms

Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.
STEP 04

Assessment and Competency Review

Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
STEP 05

Outcome Issued

Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.
Myths vs Facts

The Common Myth

Here’s the truth about RPL straight from the experts
It's a 'second-class' version of a qualification.
An RPL certificate is identical to one earned through years of classroom study. It is issued by an RTO and is 100% recognised by the AQF, trade licensing bodies, and industry regulators across Australia.
The entire point of RPL is to respect your time. There are no classrooms or exams. We work with you remotely to gather evidence of your skills while you stay on the tools and support your family.
This is a misconception. Whether you learned your trade locally or abroad, your years of mastery are valuable. RPL “translates” that experience into the formal Australian standards required for licensing and professional growth.
If I apply for RPL, I am guaranteed to pass.
To protect the integrity of your certificate, you must prove your competency. We don’t “sell” certificates, but we do provide a free initial check to ensure you have the right evidence before you start.
The system can be complex, especially if you’re navigating it for the first time. We act as your navigator, helping you organise your photos, references, and documents in plain English so the process is clear and manageable.
Because these are Nationally Recognised Qualifications, they are the benchmark for trade licensing and professional skills assessments. Having the right “paperwork” is often the final step in securing your long-term career path in Australia.

RPL vs Traditional Study

Which One Is For You?

Let’s look at the two paths side-by-side. One isn’t necessarily “better” than the other, but they are built for very different people.

Feature
Traditional Study (TAFE/College)
The ATSR Path (RPL)
Beginners or career changers starting from scratch.
6 months to 2 years of scheduled classes.
Full tuition, student fees, and textbooks.
You often have to drop shifts to attend class.
Learning new theory and sitting exams.
A nationally recognised AQF qualification.
Both paths lead to a nationally recognised qualification — the choice depends on whether you’re learning or proving what you already know.
