A step-by-step pathway to formal recognition of your apparel or textile experience.

Collect Your Evidence

Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.

Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs

We’ll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you’ll receive your Self-Assessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.

Submit Your Completed Forms

Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.

Assessment and Competency Review

Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.

Outcome Issued

Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

I'm self-employed making garments rather than working for a fashion label. Can RPL still recognise that experience?−

Yes. Client invoices, project contracts, photos of finished garments, and testimonials from clients or suppliers can all be used as evidence, regardless of whether you're self-employed or working for an employer.

I've never done a formal apparel apprenticeship. Can RPL still get me a Certificate III?+

Yes. RPL assesses your real pattern-making, sewing, or garment construction experience against the required units — this typically applies to MST31022 Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles.

I run a small fashion label and manage production, not just make garments myself. Is there a higher-level pathway?+

Yes. MST50122 Diploma of Apparel, Fashion and Textiles and MST60122 Advanced Diploma of Apparel, Fashion and Textiles are built for people managing design, production, or a fashion business, separate from the hands-on Certificate III level.

What counts as strong evidence if I don't have formal employment records?+
