Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the AUR40620 Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology through RPL?−

Yes, if you have been working at a senior level diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems, RPL lets a partner RTO formally assess that experience against AUR40620. It is still a genuine assessment, so your evidence needs to reflect the advanced diagnostic and leadership skills this qualification covers.

What evidence is needed for Certificate IV auto electrical RPL?+

You will need job cards, diagnostic and fault-finding reports for complex electrical faults, and records of repairs across a range of vehicle types. Records of supervising or training other technicians also support an application at this level.

Is an RPL Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology the same as one from full-time study?+

Yes, it is the same AQF-registered Certificate IV, issued by the ASQA-registered RTO that assesses your evidence. RPL is a different pathway to the identical qualification, not a separate or lesser version.

Do I need AUR30320 before applying for AUR40620?+

Yes, entry requires AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent competency. The RTO will check this as part of your application.
