Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this certificate to get my Builder's License?
Yes, but it is usually the first step of two. In most Australian states (like NSW, VIC, and QLD), the Certificate III in Carpentry is the mandatory "trade base" required for a Carpenter's License. However, if your goal is a Full Builder's License, you will typically need to complete this Cert III first, followed by the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction. Having the Cert III through RPL proves you have the practical mastery required before you move into the management and legal side of building.
I've been a working in this industry for 10 years but don't have many photos. Can I still qualify?
Absolutely. While worksite photos and videos are ideal, they are not the only form of evidence. Your assessor can also accept employer references, third-party verification reports, detailed job descriptions, contracts, invoices, and even a competency conversation to verify your skills. RPL is about proving what you know — not just what you've photographed.
How long does the RPL process take?
Typically 4-8 weeks from enrolment to certification, depending on how quickly you can gather and submit your evidence. Our team guides you through every step to make it as fast and smooth as possible.
Is this qualification nationally recognised?
Yes. The CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry is an AQF Level 3 qualification listed on the National Register (training.gov.au) and is recognised by employers, licensing bodies, and regulators across all Australian states and territories.
What if I don't have formal qualifications but have years of experience?
That's exactly what RPL is designed for. Recognition of Prior Learning assesses your practical skills and workplace experience against the qualification requirements — no classroom study needed. If you've been doing the work, you likely already meet the competency standards.
