Get recognised for the senior civil works design experience you already have. The RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design is a nationally recognised qualification for para-professional designers who support professional engineers on complex civil infrastructure projects, from initial site requirements through to detailed design solutions. Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), ATSR guides you through converting your on-the-job design, risk management and quality expertise into evidence for this formal qualification, which is assessed and issued by a partner Registered Training Organisation.

Yes, if you've been working at a senior level in civil design, that experience can be formally assessed against the Advanced Diploma instead of you completing a full course. ATSR supports you through the evidence-gathering process, and the formal assessment is carried out by our partner RTO.
You need evidence that shows senior-level design responsibility, such as civil works design plans, drawings or specifications you've prepared or contributed to, project briefs or scope documents you've worked from, and records of the design software or CAD systems you use. The assessor looks for evidence across the higher-level complexity expected of an advanced diploma.
Yes, it's the identical AQF-registered Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO whichever pathway you take. RPL doesn't produce a different or lesser credential — it's a formally recognised route to the same qualification.
An Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design through RPL gives you the same qualification behind senior civil construction designer and civil design para-professional roles, which involve leading complex infrastructure design work. It formally recognises design leadership experience you've already built on real projects, supporting professional engineers at a higher level.
