How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here's what to expect at each stage.

1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
2
Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs
We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.
3
Submit Your Completed Forms
Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.
4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
5
Outcome Issued
Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Diploma of Community Services through RPL without enrolling in a full course?
Yes, if you're already working in community services your experience can be formally assessed against the Diploma instead of you having to complete a full training course. ATSR supports you through building your evidence portfolio, while the formal assessment is conducted by our partner RTO.
How much experience do you need for RPL in community services?
You need enough documented, real work experience to show you meet the diploma's requirements — things like work samples such as programs, reports or policies you've authored, references from managers or partner agencies, and records like meeting minutes or rosters that show your coordination work. It's the breadth and depth of what you've done in the role that matters to the assessor.
Is an RPL Diploma of Community Services the same qualification as one from full-time study?
Yes, it's the same nationally recognised Diploma of Community Services issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, no matter which pathway you take to get it. RPL simply recognises the skills you already have through a formal assessment process rather than classroom delivery.
Can RPL in community services help me move into a case coordinator or family support role?
A Diploma of Community Services through RPL gives you the same formal qualification that case coordinator, community services coordinator and family support worker positions typically look for. It's a way to have coordination and casework experience you've already built recognised in a form the sector accepts.
