BSB60720 Advanced Diploma of Program Management

Formal recognition for individuals with specialised knowledge and skills in program management who direct, plan and lead a set of interrelated projects to achieve organisational objectives.
Overview

Turn years of hands-on program management experience into the BSB60720 Advanced Diploma of Program Management, a nationally recognised qualification for individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in program management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your experience directing or managing a program of interrelated projects to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Advanced Diploma as anyone who completed the qualification through classroom-based study.

How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here's what to expect at each stage.

1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
2
Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs
We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.
3
Submit Your Completed Forms
Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.
4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
5
Outcome Issued
Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the Advanced Diploma of Program Management through RPL instead of doing the full course?
Yes, if you can show you're already doing the work of a program manager, RPL lets a registered training organisation formally assess and recognise those skills against the qualification's requirements. It's a genuine assessment process, not a way around one — you still need to provide solid evidence that matches what's expected at this level.
What evidence do I need to apply for RPL for a Program Management Advanced Diploma?
You'll typically need documents that show you've actually managed programs of interrelated projects, such as project plans, schedules or scope documents you've developed, budgets or financial reports you've managed, risk registers you've prepared, and stakeholder communication records. The RTO assessor checks how well this evidence maps to the units in the qualification, so complete and current records give you the strongest case.
Is an RPL Advanced Diploma of Program Management the same as one from full-time study?
Yes, it's the exact same AQF-registered qualification, issued by the same ASQA-registered RTO, no matter which pathway you took to get it. RPL is simply a different route to demonstrate you already meet the standard — the certificate itself carries identical recognition on your record.
What jobs can I move into with this qualification?
This qualification lines up with roles like Program Manager, Project Director and Project Management Section Leader, where you're responsible for a program of interrelated projects or setting overall direction across multiple projects. Having the formal qualification behind your experience can support internal promotion or make you a stronger candidate for these more senior roles.
