CPC31420 Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing

Formal recognition for waterproofers who apply membranes and special coatings to protect the structural integrity of residential and commercial buildings.
Overview

Get recognised for the waterproofing skills you’ve already built on the tools. The CPC31420 Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing formally recognises workers who handle waterproofing materials and apply membranes and protective coatings to internal, external and below-ground wet areas across residential and commercial construction. ATSR guides you through building a portfolio of evidence from your real project work, which our partner RTO then assesses against the national standard for this qualification. The result is the same nationally recognised trade qualification, reached through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) rather than a return to the classroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing through RPL without doing a full course?
Yes, you can gain a Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing through RPL, which recognises the waterproofing skills you've already built on site, matched against the qualification through a formal assessment process. You'll still work with the partner RTO, which carries out a genuine assessment of your evidence before the qualification is issued.
What evidence do I need for RPL in waterproofing?
Assessors look at photos and short videos, generally around 90 to 120 seconds each, taken on a real, active worksite that clearly show you applying membranes or waterproofing coatings. The footage needs to show you working in a professional setting so the RTO can match what you actually do against the qualification's units.
Is an RPL Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing the same as one from full-time study?
Yes, a Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing issued through RPL is the exact same nationally recognised qualification as one earned through full-time training, with identical units on the certificate. It's issued by the ASQA-registered RTO that assesses your evidence, not by ATSR, which guides you through the RPL pathway.
What does a Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing let me do?
This qualification supports work as a Waterproofer, applying membranes and specialist coatings that protect a building's structure and contents from water damage. It's formal recognition for waterproofing skills many people have picked up on the job across residential and commercial sites.
