The BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management is a nationally recognised qualification for professionals who manage projects across diverse industries and business environments. Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), your existing project management skills and workplace experience can be assessed against the qualification’s requirements. ATSR guides you through the RPL process, helping you understand eligibility criteria and prepare relevant evidence for assessment by its partner Registered Training Organisation (RTO). If you meet the assessment requirements, you can achieve the same nationally recognised qualification awarded to eligible graduates through other learning pathways.

Yes, RPL lets your existing project management experience be formally assessed against the requirements of the BSB50820 Diploma. A partner RTO reviews your evidence and conducts the assessment needed to confirm your skills meet the national standard.
There's no fixed amount of experience required — what matters is having enough real evidence of managing projects to match against the qualification's units. Project plans, schedules or scope documents you've developed, budgets or financial reports you've managed, risk registers you've prepared, and stakeholder communications are the kind of evidence assessors look for.
Yes, it's the exact same AQF-registered Diploma, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, no matter which pathway you took to get it. RPL is a different route to the identical qualification, not a lesser version of it.
It's built around roles such as Project Manager, Project Team Leader and Project Contract Manager, covering initiating, planning, executing and evaluating projects using specialised technical and managerial skills. Having the qualification formally recognises project skills you may already be using without the title to match.
