Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services through RPL if I'm already working as a senior plumber?
Yes, your on-the-job plumbing and services experience can be formally assessed against the CPC40920 units by the partner RTO through RPL. It's a genuine assessment of what you can already do, not a shortcut that skips the evaluation.
What kind of evidence do I need for Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services RPL?
You'll need photos and short videos, around 90 to 120 seconds each, taken on a real, active worksite that clearly show you carrying out the relevant plumbing and services work. This practical evidence is matched against each unit to confirm your skill level.
Is an RPL Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services the same as one earned through full-time training?
Yes, it's the same AQF-registered CPC40920 qualification, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO no matter which pathway you use to get it. RPL doesn't produce a different or reduced version of the credential.
Can Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services help me start my own plumbing business?
This qualification supports roles like Plumbing Contractor and Hydraulic Designer, covering technical design, site supervision and compliance that a plumbing business needs. As plumbing is a licensed trade, you'll still need to meet your state or territory's separate contractor licensing requirements to operate your own business.
