FNS60222 Advanced Diploma of Accounting

Formal recognition for individuals working in accounting and seeking professional recognition, including tax agents, accounts managers and business analysts, who apply theoretical and technical skills with autonomy.
Overview

Turn years of hands-on senior accounting experience into the FNS60222 Advanced Diploma of Accounting, a nationally recognised qualification for individuals working in accounting and seeking professional recognition, including tax agents and accounts managers. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your experience applying theoretical and technical skills with autonomy, and planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others, to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Advanced Diploma as anyone who completed the qualification through classroom-based study. This qualification includes units that comprise an approved Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) course in Australian taxation and commercial law.

Assistant Accountant
Performs fixed asset accounting, cash management, bank reconciliations and taxation work including FBT, BAS and annual company tax returns.
Accounting Manager
Manages financial services within an organisation, ensures compliance with legislation and policies, and advises senior management on accounting operations.

How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here's what to expect at each stage.

1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
2
Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs
We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.
3
Submit Your Completed Forms
Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.
4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
5
Outcome Issued
Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the Advanced Diploma of Accounting through RPL?
Yes, if you've got solid experience in accounting work, RPL lets an RTO formally assess that experience against the Advanced Diploma rather than requiring you to complete the course from scratch. It remains a genuine, formal assessment process built around real evidence of your skills.
How much evidence do I need to provide?
You'll need to show a solid body of work, such as financial reports, reconciliations or budgets you've prepared, activity statements you've lodged, and payroll or accounts records you've managed, that together demonstrate your skills across the units in the Advanced Diploma. The exact mix depends on your role, but the evidence needs to be current and clearly linked to what you actually did.
Is the RPL version of this qualification less recognised than the full-time one?
No, it's the exact same AQF-registered Advanced Diploma of Accounting, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, whichever pathway you take. RPL is a different route to the same qualification, not a lesser or different certificate.
What kind of roles does this Advanced Diploma support?
It supports roles like Assistant Accountant, covering fixed asset accounting, cash management and tax work, and Accounting Manager roles where you manage financial services within an organisation and ensure compliance. It's suited to people already carrying that level of responsibility who want it formally recognised.
