How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here's what to expect at each stage.

1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
2
Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs
We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.
3
Submit Your Completed Forms
Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.
4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
5
Outcome Issued
Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Diploma of Salon Management through RPL if I've been managing a salon without formal qualifications?
Yes, real experience running or managing a salon can be formally assessed against the Diploma of Salon Management rather than you needing to study it from the ground up. ATSR helps you document that management experience, and a partner RTO formally assesses it against the national units before issuing the diploma.
What kind of proof do I need to show for salon management RPL?
You need documented evidence of your management work, such as business plans, marketing campaigns or policies you've written, along with testimonials from supervisors, clients or industry contacts and things like meeting minutes or rosters. Together this evidence needs to show you've genuinely carried out salon management functions, not just worked in a salon.
Is a Diploma of Salon Management earned through RPL the same as one from a full-time course?
Yes, it's the same nationally recognised Diploma of Salon Management, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO under the same AQF framework. The pathway to get there is different, but the qualification itself is identical.
Does a Diploma of Salon Management help me open my own salon?
A Diploma of Salon Management is built around the skills needed to lead a salon team, manage the business side and eventually own and operate your own hairdressing or beauty salon. It covers the management, marketing and safety standards employers and business owners are expected to handle.
