How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here's what to expect at each stage.

1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.

Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs
We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.

4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
5

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get an Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy through RPL without going back to college?
Yes, advanced clinical skin therapy work you're already doing, such as light-based, needling or peel treatments, can be formally assessed against the Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy. ATSR helps you gather that clinical evidence, and a partner RTO carries out the formal assessment before the qualification is issued.
What evidence is required for Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy RPL?
You need real clinical evidence, such as photos and videos of you performing skin therapy treatments in an active clinic or salon, with client privacy maintained throughout. The assessor needs to see the specific treatment techniques covered by the qualification actually being carried out.
Is an RPL Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy the same qualification as one from full-time study?
Yes, it's the identical AQF-registered Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO no matter which pathway is used to get it. RPL is a genuine alternative route to the same qualification, not a separate or lesser one.
What can I do with an Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy that I couldn't do before?
An Advanced Diploma of Skin Therapy supports senior beauty therapist and beauty therapy salon manager roles, and it also connects into more specialised work such as IPL and laser therapy for hair reduction. It's the highest-level clinical skin qualification in the beauty therapy pathway.
