UEE20120 Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems

Formal recognition for installers who install, commission and decommission single-head split air conditioning and heat pump systems to a prescribed routine.
Overview

Turn hands-on split-system installation experience into the UEE20120 Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, a nationally recognised qualification covering the installation, commissioning and decommissioning of single-head, wall-hung split air conditioning and heat pump systems up to 18kW refrigeration capacity. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your experience installing split systems in homes, offices and small spaces to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Certificate II as anyone who completed the qualification through classroom-based study. This qualification also meets the training components for a national restricted heat pump, split system, installation and decommissioning Refrigerant Handling Licence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the UEE20120 Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems through RPL instead of doing a course?
Yes, RPL lets your hands-on experience installing and servicing split air conditioning and heat pump systems be formally assessed against this qualification's requirements. A partner RTO checks your evidence and carries out the assessment needed to confirm your skills meet the national standard.
What evidence do I need to show for RPL on a split system air conditioning qualification?
You need real evidence tied to the work itself, not a set number of years on the job. Installation records or job sheets for split systems you've installed, photos or records of heat pump water heater installations, and records showing you've commissioned or decommissioned systems all help build your case.
Is an RPL Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning the same qualification as one from TAFE?
Yes, it's the exact same AQF-registered qualification, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, regardless of which pathway you used to get it. RPL is a different way of reaching the identical credential, based on assessing skills you've already built on the job.
Does this qualification cover the skills needed to work as a split system installer or technician?
It's built around the skills used in roles like Air-conditioning Split System Installer and Air-conditioning Technician (Split Systems), covering installing, commissioning and decommissioning these systems. Any licensing or registration needed to work in the industry is a separate process handled through the relevant regulator.
