UEE61521 Advanced Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering

Formal recognition for senior technical officers who design, validate and evaluate process control equipment and systems, manage risk, and provide technical advice or sales.
Overview

Turn years of hands-on senior instrumentation and control engineering work into the UEE61521 Advanced Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, a nationally recognised qualification covering the design, validation and evaluation of process control equipment and systems, risk management, project estimation and management, technical advice or sales, and the installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault diagnosis of equipment and systems. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your senior instrumentation and control experience to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Advanced Diploma as anyone who completed the qualification through classroom-based study.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the Advanced Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering through RPL?
Yes, RPL lets your instrumentation and control engineering experience be formally assessed against the requirements of the UEE61521 Advanced Diploma. A partner RTO reviews your evidence and carries out the assessment needed to confirm your skills meet the national standard.
What evidence do I need for RPL at this level in instrumentation and control engineering?
It's built on evidence of senior technical work, not a set number of years. Process control system design or validation and evaluation records, risk management or project estimation records, and technical advice, sales or specification documentation you've prepared all show assessors you've been operating at the level the qualification covers.
Is an RPL Advanced Diploma of Instrumentation and Control Engineering the same as one earned through full-time study?
Yes, it's the exact same AQF-registered qualification, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, whichever pathway was used to get it. RPL is a different route to the identical credential, not a watered-down version of it.
What kind of career step does this qualification support?
It's built around the Instrumentation and Control Senior Technical Officer role, covering designing, validating and evaluating process control equipment and systems, managing risk, and providing technical advice or sales. That reflects a move from field-level technician work into a senior technical position.
