UEE62525 Advanced Diploma of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering

Formal recognition for senior technical officers who design, validate and evaluate refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and systems, manage risk, and provide technical advice or sales.
Overview

Turn years of hands-on senior refrigeration and air conditioning engineering work into the UEE62525 Advanced Diploma of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering, a nationally recognised qualification covering the design and validation/evaluation of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and systems, risk management, project estimation and management, and technical advice or sales, including the ethical and responsible application of mathematics, science and engineering techniques. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your senior refrigeration and air conditioning engineering experience to be formally assessed against this qualification rather than starting your learning over. Once your evidence is assessed and confirmed by our partner RTO, you hold the same AQF-recognised Advanced Diploma as anyone who completed the qualification through classroom-based study. This qualification meets the training components for the full national Refrigerant Handling Licence.

How It Works

Once your Student Agreement is signed and your initial payment is confirmed, your RPL journey begins — here's what to expect at each stage.

1
Collect Your Evidence
Using your personalised checklist, gather evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience. This may include employment records, certificates, photos, videos, or supervisor references. Your Navigator will guide you every step of the way.
2
Receive Your Enrolment & RPL Docs
We'll send your Enrolment Form and LLN Assessment to complete first. Following that, you'll receive your SelfAssessment Form and Third-Party Verification Form to work through carefully before moving to the next step.
3
Submit Your Completed Forms
Complete and sign all required forms, then return them along with your full evidence portfolio. Ensure every section is filled in, all signatures are included, and all supporting documents are attached before submitting.
4
Assessment and Competency Review
Your RTO Assessor will review and map your evidence against the required unit competencies. Where further clarification is needed, a competency conversation will be conducted to confirm your knowledge and skills.
5
Outcome Issued
Once assessed as competent across all required units, the RTO will formally issue your certificate or Statement of Attainment. Your real-world experience is now officially recognised as a nationally accredited qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get the Advanced Diploma of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering through RPL?
Yes, RPL lets your air conditioning and refrigeration engineering experience be formally assessed against the requirements of the UEE62525 Advanced Diploma. A partner RTO reviews your evidence and conducts the assessment needed to confirm you meet the national standard.
What evidence is needed for RPL at this level in air conditioning and refrigeration engineering?
Assessors look for evidence of senior design and technical work, not a set number of years. Refrigeration or air conditioning system design or validation and evaluation records, risk management or project estimation records, and technical advice, sales or specification documentation you've prepared all strengthen your case.
Is an RPL Advanced Diploma of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering the same as one from full-time study?
Yes, it's the exact same AQF-registered qualification, issued by an ASQA-registered RTO, regardless of the pathway used to get it. RPL recognises skills you've already built rather than offering a different or lesser credential.
What kind of role does this qualification support?
It's built around roles like Senior Technical Officer (Electrical Engineering) and Technical Officer (Electrical Engineering), covering designing, validating and evaluating electrical equipment and systems, managing risk and project work, and providing technical advice or sales. That points toward senior technical and design-focused work rather than routine servicing.
